Answer spooky prompts in your world with original worldbuilding or art. Write new articles or short stories, create art or music... as long as you create it and it's at least somewhat related to the prompt, anything goes! The goal is to have fun and expand your world.
Optional: celebrating 70 years of the Lord of the Rings
The Return of the King was first published 70 years ago (October 20th, 1955), so this Spooktober is themed around The Lord of the Rings! Every single prompt is taken from the books, and you're welcome to join the celebration too by theming your answers to the kind of themes and creatures that live in Middle Earth. This is totally optional, and just a fun way to approach the prompts!
The Prompts
Click on a prompt to write your response. Let the games begin!
Choose a prompt and create something in any medium that relates to the prompt (it can be worldbuilding, art, poetry...).
Insert your creation in a Generic Article.
Submit it through the challenge button in the editor toolbar at the bottom of the article editor.
You can theme your answers around the Lord of the Rings, but you don't have to. Answer at least 13 prompts, and you'll get the badge!
Rules
Articles must be submitted before the closing time to be eligible (the challenge will close during the World Anvil livestream on November 1st).
You may only submit one article per prompt (this does not mean one article per world, in cases where multiple authors work on a single world).
For writing-based entries, there is no minimum or maximum wordcount. For other entries, there isn't any limitation either.
All writing and art you submit must be your own work.
Submit all of your articles by November 1st, or they will not be counted for the participation badge.
World Anvil retains the right to arbitrate and/or change the rules where necessary to uphold the spirit and integrity of this event and the community. We will communicate changes as necessary.
As always, World Anvil claims no ownership over your original work.
Other information
All your submissions must be generic articles. If you submit non-written content, embed the content into your submission (learn how to use and embed images).
Your submissions must be published (i.e. not drafts) and public (i.e. not private).
You can answer multiple prompts with a single submission, but you will only get the badge if you submit 13 separate articles.
If you're not sure if your idea fits a prompt, the answer is probably yes! The goal of the event is to challenge yourself, so go forth and worldbuild anything inspired by these prompts!
You can submit articles in any language you want.
