The New Begildan Manifesto

Ongoing 2522 0 0 4577

The most common religious text of Espere doubles as a history book, detailing the progression of Droswal from its initial days (the Manifest Era) to the rise of the Patrons (in the Patron Era) and finally to the dawn of the modern Federation Era.
The lineage of the text spans centuries of scholarship and adjustment. The original Records of Manifest were various firsthand accounts of the nine Manifests, which were collected and translated by leading scholars in hopes that the "most complete" version of each Record was kept in circulation. These Records began to be sold in bundles to those seeking a complete package, and the efficiency of these bundles was finally optimized into the a single book called the Codex Manifesto. Later, accounts of the highly-newsworthy paradigm shift known as Nestori's Bargain were similarly first bundled with the Codex and then printed into the book itself, which became the Nestorian Manifesto. The Nestorian Manifesto was regarded as vital context for the new theologies that arose around the Patrons in the next Era, so various Patronic Manifestos were made as clergies added their teachings to "The Manifesto" rather than print standalone pamphlets.
The final versions of the Patronic Manifesto were those written by Begild of Kythelum in the new language she was teaching in Southern Espere to unify the territories Kythelum had been expanding their influence into. As part of translating these texts, she added minor commentary that, in retrospect, was found to subtly foreshadow her rebellion against Dubain. She also gave the component pieces (or "books") of the Manifesto snappy names for ease of reference — a practice that had taken shape colloquially but was never put in writing before. Begild's personal journals and the early writings of Begildan scholars were canonized to reflect her ascension to the status of New Patron of Southern Espere.
Finally, the Begildan Manifesto was then updated with a response to the competing Dubyran Manifesto, which rejected begild's Patronage in favor of the Bound Patron Dubyre. This New Begildan Manifesto serves as a crash course on the history of Espere and the most common theology in the Kythel Federation
