I am nearly done writing the first draft of Silver Bound and will put it away before starting edits this November. Finally, after trying to write this story for a WHOLE year, I can see the finish line. Just 7..... no, make that 6 more chapters to go! And yes, the first edits will be adding details, missing chapters, and fixing the pacing -- all without destroying the storyline...hopefully. Maybe. Eh, the characters took off with the plot at the beginning of Act II, so I gave up and let them tell me what to write. It's their story anyways! *shrug*
Now, onto the matter at hand: I have a question regarding which book should I move onto next. I have the sequel to Silver Bound up and ready to go, but I also have a novella for the series that takes place between the events of Silver Bound and book two, and it ties deeply into the events of what happens in book two. The question is, dear readers, should I work on the novella or hop straight into book two?
I finally (mea culpa) posted chapter 15 of Augmented Valor. We are heading into the spicier parts of the story, so I suggest adult readers.

Developing and editing the second book of my saga is going smoothly, I believe.
The bloat is mostly gone, a few chapter rewrites have definitely enhanced the quality, and I’ve been adding smaller scenes to further enrich the characters beyond simply knowing them as a cool elf assassin, a rogue vigilante with a badass mask, or the rest of the companionship by surface alone.
Anyway, this means more lore will be coming to my world here on World Anvil, although I still have some empty articles I’ve yet to complete due to limited time. One of those is the Immortal Lords - essentially god-like entities who rule entire planets of their own out in the cosmos of my fantasy setting. Their direct influence on Kyfeia is small, which is why they often rely on their cults and followers.
With that said, I should soon write another character article on an important figure who will be featured in either Book 3 or Book 4 when the time comes:
The Makerbound Sovereign of Veros.
She is the 5th “Chosen Queen” ruling Veros, the land of the Wild Elves. Rulership in that realm is not traditional. It is not inherited by blood, nor seized by force.
It is gifted to someone deemed worthy of the title by the Makers.

I’ve just released Issue 12 of the Raven & Quill, alongside the perspective shift moving between the isolating fog of Chapter 14 and the upcoming visceral nightmare of Chapter 15.
This week’s entry explores the unseen war at the drafting table: The Outline vs. The Draft. As a planner, I design deeply interconnected matrices looking out generations. But when you sit down to put meat on the bones, characters stop being compliant chess pieces. Forcing them to satisfy a contrived plot-post violates their internal logic. Two days ago, a major binary state in the timeline changed, and the plan had to be thrown out.
The wildest part of this structural shift is what I call Accidental Armor. The emotional hardening forged for Talathis in Chapter 14 was meant to prepare him for a plot trajectory that has now been completely deleted from the future timeline. Yet, the armor still holds the exact structural weight of the new reality.
In our next issue, we step out of the stillness and into Chapter 15, "The Flesh in Winter." We will plunge into the sickening reality of an autonomy hijacked, exploring the parasitic mechanics of a cage made not from metal, but from flesh.

Recently, I’ve been digging into my philosophy as a writer and an artist — as someone who believes in filling every empty space with knowledge, beauty, or value. Someone who understands that “everything is awful” is the same lie as “everything is great.” Someone who believes that choosing not only to see but to recognize and spotlight the joy behind creativity is vital in the war against oppression and censorship.
I’ve been calling this attitude, this practice, this philosophy JoyPunk. Not a term I coined, but the only one that fits. It’s the discipline of staying human on purpose — a refusal to let despair, burnout, or cruelty decide who we get to be.
I’m curious about your thoughts. Where are you seeing this idea of JoyPunk reflected in the world — in art, in community, in the beauty around you? I'd like to quote (and link) your thoughts in an upcoming essay I'm writing on the topic.
How do you balance writing your story with updating World Anvil?
I love using World Anvil as a home for my setting, it helps not to store everything in documents, but lately I’ve struggled to divide my energy between writing, editing, promotion, and building out lore articles.
Most of my focus right now is on the next volume of my epic fantasy saga, especially edits, rewrites, and new scenes. I haven’t posted a proper new World Anvil article in quite a while, some of them are empty for the time being.
That bothers me a little, because I want the world to feel alive outside the books too. I want the histories, cultures, characters, races, and major events to have a place readers can explore.
At the same time, the books themselves have to come first.
For those who both write stories and use World Anvil, how do you keep the balance without feeling like one side is being neglected?

It’s been a while since I wrote one of these. Where have I been? Deep into my writing! The first draft of my novel is finally coming to a close. I am alive and well—as well as one can be! Sometimes you just have to buckle down and focus on what you're working on.
That being said, I did take a short break for a fun challenge I participated in last year: Dip a Toe In by Asmo. The opportunity to visit and write a story set in another creator's world is so much fun, provided you're comfortable with it. I participated last year with my story, A Spoonful of Penance .
This year, the theme was "create a problem," and I did just that! Crucially, I left the problem open-ended, so the other world's creator can use it if they want to. It was a fantastic writing exercise.
I wrote an Elegant Problem and Check out Asmo's challenge it might spark something in you. Also reason to explore a new world.
Hello everyone! I have more concrete ideas now since I've been able to brainstorm effectively. As some of you may know, I have autism and adhd. Which means chaos meets routine, which never goes well. However, I've been trying apps for adhd and routine, and so far, it's working well. Here are some concrete ideas I have and did SOME research on.
Short story commissions (100-5,000 words), newsletter about book progress (Ko-fi), and exclusive short stories of the current book's characters (Ko-fi). These are the ideas I'm able to do along with social media posts, worldbuilding, and working on my books. Thank you for your support and patience as I figure this out. I'll write 3-5 short stories for a portfolio for the short story commissions.
Now with this figured out, I need to find LGBTQIA friendly social media sites. I don't care about receiving hateful comments every now and then, but the platform itself and general community needs to be open to trans writing if that makes sense. Hopefully I'll keep growing and be able to motivate myself to keep going even if I don't.

How often do we let magic be "hand-wavy," or gloss over the logistical nightmare of how different cultures actually measure time?
In Raven & Quill Issue 6, I dive deep into the mechanics of Aithyris to address both of these issues, and I wanted to share some of that forge-labor with this community.
If you've ever looked at the historical mess of the Julian and Gregorian calendars and thought, "I should do that to my characters," you'll understand "The Lag".
The ancient Shandaryn calendar of my setting uses a perfect 351-day solar year. But humanity couldn't leave the math alone. The trade-focused Therysians anchored their New Year to the Spring Equinox , while the traditional Vesprians anchored theirs to the Winter Solstice. The result? A predictable annual overlap where one nation is technically a full year behind the other for three months and a week. You can read the full mechanical breakdown in Calendars & Timekeeping.
I also touch on the physics of the "Shadow". Instead of treating darkness as just "bad lighting," I built it as an active endothermic vacuum. Because the medium of the Shadow is acoustically dead , moving a living soul through it creates intense "Friction of Identity". Magic isn't free; it's a zero-sum thermodynamic exchange.
The issue also features a personal journal entry about a recent lecture I attended, a fumbled question about entropy, and why the physical "connectedness" of the universe matters so much to the themes of my story.

Something new from me! After the Elves vs. Aliens showdown, I was reading the Discord chat, and Team Alien—specifically Demon Grey—was talking about using aliens for creativity. While I don’t yet have a full sci-fi or alien world, I wanted to explore a specific lens for the story; sometimes that sparks an idea.
I’ve put together a short outline, and here’s my first installment of Starlit Observations! It will be a duet-style tale, following Ven Solari, a Zephri observer, as he begins watching a human woman, Subject 7.3.9.2343—someone he calls Wildflower. What starts as a mission of observation soon becomes something far more personal.
Creative experiments make me happy, and who knows—maybe this will help me fully develop that other sci-fi setting I’ve been dreaming about. I hope you enjoy seeing where this story goes!

I’ve been working on this quietly for some time. The art took several attempts before it finally felt like it was saying what I needed it to.
This also became an exercise in writing more deeply for one of the characters in the novel I’m working on — grounding their experience in something real.
