I, David, firstborn of Yeshua and Mary, set these words in order, that none be lost. For my father taught the Way of Truth, and my mother nurtured the life of the Way. Their voices were not the same, yet they were never apart. My father was the pillar that stood firm; my mother was the roof that gave shelter. Together they built the dwelling in which we now abide.

My father spoke with the voice of the teacher, clear and steadfast. He gave us the gospels of Love, Wisdom, Respect, Honesty, Humility, Truth, Harmony, and Faith. He pointed the road before us and said, Walk here, and you will not stumble. His words were like stones laid in the path - sure beneath the feet, enduring through the seasons.

My mother spoke with the voice of the companion, gentle yet strong. She gave us the thoughts of Compassion, Fruitfulness, Joy, Support, and Motherhood. She did not so much command as embrace. Her words were like the well by the roadside - refreshing the weary, filling the empty, giving rest before the journey continued.

And I tell you, though their scrolls are two, their teaching is one. For what is the path without rest, or the dwelling without foundation? What is law without mercy, or truth without tenderness? My father’s voice was the lamp; my mother’s was the oil. My father’s words were the seed; my mother’s were the water. One without the other would wither, but together they gave life.

Therefore I have bound them in one book, that you may know them not as fragments but as wholeness. When you read my father’s gospels, hear also my mother’s care. When you rest in my mother’s thoughts, remember also my father’s command. For as they walked together, so must their words walk together.

This is the Way:

  • Love yourself, for the divine Breath is within you.
  • Love your neighbor, for the same Breath is within them.
  • Welcome the stranger, for in them too the Holy One dwells.
  • Honor the world and its creatures, for they are the handiwork of the Holy One.

These are the roots of all that follows. If you walk in them, you will walk in Truth.
